It's often claimed that evolution is simply change over time. And since change over time can be seen everywhere, then evolution is obviously true. But highly trained creation scientists say there is much more to it than that.

For evolution to have turned particles into people a special type of change is needed. That is naturally occurring change that adds new genetic instructions. No one has seen this special kind of change happen, Darwin's Finches, peppered moths and adapting bacteria are all examples of naturally occurring change but none of them adds new genetic instructions. Not one of them adds new instructions for some new complex features, such as feathers for lizards, for example.

And since codes and programs don't write themselves there must have been a designer for all living things.

The mechanisms of evolution explained in one video.

The theory of evolution explains how the enormous variety of life could come into existence. How it is possible for primitive life forms to spawn the millions of different creatures, that exist today. Unfortunately, evolution is often misunderstood, because it's mechanisms seem counter intuitive. By using visualizations, infographics and appealing characters, the viewer is more likely to understand it the complex information. More than that, by presenting the information in an entertaining way, the information is more likely to sink in.

Short videos, explaining things. For example Evolution, the Universe, Stock Market or controversial topics like Fracking. Because we love science.

What sort of catastrophe would be required to entomb over 120 species of marine invertebrates in fined-grained rock?
This is not just a hypothetical question. In the Canadian Rockies, over 120 species of marine invertebrates have been found preserved in a famous formation known as The Burgess Shale. Most of these animals were soft bodied, and many are so exquisitely preserved that you can still see the food in their stomachs!
It appears they were buried and preserved almost instantaneously! Moreover, the creatures were apparently buried in turbulent conditions, because the fossils are found dumped at a variety of angles, relative to the bedding.
Fossil graveyards like these are found all over the world. Collectively, they point to catastrophic flooding occurring on a worldwide scale. This is exactly what we’d expect to find if the global flood recorded in the Bible actually occurred.

How natural selection REALLY works

If you knew you inherited more than 100 new mutations from your parents, and that your heir will develop a hundred more per generation, would you believe that someday, they would evolve?
Certainly we cannot test or repeat the past, let alone prove evolutionary claims, but truly, we can falsify the claim that humans can evolve. So far, the evidence says 'No' to human evolution, more importantly, it shows that the generations of men have a limit in past time.

CMIcreationstation 📤 5 years ago 2013-03-06
You've probably heard that, 'diamonds are a girl's best friend', but diamonds also teach us an important lesson about the age of the earth.

Diamonds are made of carbon. One rare type of carbon—known as carbon 14—is radioactive, which means that it breaks down over time. By measuring the amount of decay, scientists estimate how old something is. Some people think that carbon 14 dating proves things happened millions of years ago. But that is wrong, because carbon 14 decays so fast that something a million years old could not contain any carbon 14.

Geophysicist Dr John Baumgardner recently investigated the level of carbon 14 in diamonds. Many would've considered such research pointless, because the diamonds were supposedly over a billion years old, which meant all carbon 14 should've decayed. But the radiocarbon labs detected significant levels of carbon 14, which suggests the diamonds are much younger; only thousands of years.

📺 Are there really glacial deposits in Flood rock?
CMIcreationstation 📤 5 years ago 2013-01-23
How could scratches in rock disprove the biblical flood? Well, scratches in rock, call striations, are sometimes caused by a glacier moving over bedrock, therefore, when scientists encounter striated rock, they often claim that a glacier caused it.

Striation occurs in the sedimentary rock that was laid down in Noah's Flood, evolutionary geologists claim this is evidences of multiple ancient ice ages, so they claim that Noah's year-long flood could not have laid down these rocks.

However, we now know that underwater landslides cause striations, similar to the ones caused by glaciers today. Furthermore, there are important differences between glacial deposits formed today and the alleged ancient ice ages. So don't let scratches in rock, scratch away your faith in God's word.

Inside a living cell is an amazing transportation system. Proteins have to be delivered to the correct part of the cell to perform their intended functions. This animation, based on a lot of clever research over a number of years, shows how it happens.

Highways, made of microtubules, are assembled by interlocking proteins, each manufactured in accordance with the coded instructions on the cell's DNA. Marching along a microtubule is the kinesin motor, the hero of our story, carrying a huge sack of proteins to be delivered to a pre-determined place in the cell. Here the proteins will be released to fulfil their functions.

A kinesin linear motor uses one ATP to provide the energy for each step and takes 125,000 steps to cover one millimetre!

This amazing machine shows all the hallmarks of design!

People with granite bench tops in their kitchens are usually very proud of them, never failing to show them off to visitors. But that's not surprising—serving up dinner on a surface that was supposedly millions of years in the making carries a certain aura about it.

But in a recent paper, published in the Proceedings of the Geologists' Association, granite specialist John Clemens stated, 'just about everything that was taught as recently as ten years ago about granitic magmatism has been turned on its head'.

He then described how granites can form quickly. He concluded that granites belong with an increasing number of geological processes that were, 'catastrophic in their suddenness'.

This eliminates yet another reason not to believe the Bible's timescale.

While this is certainly a dramatically different view of how granites form, be sensitive when telling your friends with granite bench tops, because they might find this research pretty deflating.

Epigenetics and natural selectionEpigenetics and natural selection
📺 Epigenetics and natural selection
CMIcreationstation 📤 2 years ago 2015-10-26
Did you know that the DNA code is itself governed by another code known as the epigenetic code? This physical and chemical code determines which genes are switched on. Changes in this code can greatly alter an organism without altering one letter of its DNA. For instance, scientists have managed to change the coat colour in mice by feeding them a diet that switches off certain genes.
Epigenetics poses new problems for evolution. For instance, a group of animals with a camouflaged coat colour might be favoured in a particular environment, but if this coat colour is due to epigenetics and not the actual DNA code, then the non-camouflaged animals would be selected against in vain. When the epigenetic modification is reset by a diet change, natural selection is sent back to square one.
The field of epigenetics, therefore, creates problems for evolution and strongly points to a master programmer who invented the DNA and epigenetic codes.

📺 Flat gaps between rock layers challenge evolution’s long ages
CMIcreationstation 📤 2 years ago 2015-11-16
How can a lack of erosion undermine evolutionary ideas of long ages of earth history? Well, when geologists study the boundary between two rock layers, they sometimes conclude that there was a significant time gap between when the lower and upper rock layers were laid down.
However, many boundaries don’t show any evidence of elapsed time. The Grand Canyon provides startling examples. One is where the Coconino Sandstone overlies the Hermit Shale. The surface between these rock layers is remarkably flat and smooth—a ‘flat gap’. Yet according to conventional geology, there is a 6 million year gap between these rock layers. The underlying shale is a soft rock, so it should have eroded a lot if exposed for this time. But the Hermit Shale doesn’t show this erosion. This shows that the upper sandstone was deposited on the lower shale so quickly that there was not time for erosion of the shale. Something is obviously wrong with the conventional geological timescale. To find out more from Creation Ministries International visit our website creation.com

CMIcreationstation 📤 1 year ago 2016-07-05
Did you know that part of the geological column is found upside-down in Pakistan? At the foot of the Karakorum Mountains, in the Salt Range Formation, scientists have discovered fossilized plants and insects. From an evolutionary perspective, these remains belong to the upper part of the geological column. However, this formation lies beneath Cambrian rocks, which are supposedly over 400 million years older. So why are the fossils of more complex life buried below fossils considered much more primitive? This is a vexing evolutionary problem. Discoveries such as these support the biblical version of earth history, whereby the geological column is primarily a consequence of the global flood and its aftermath. It is no surprise that there is some order in the fossil record, such as sea creatures buried beneath land creatures, and mobile creatures such as birds near the top. But, as the Salt Range Formation testifies, the ordered charts that adorn textbooks aren’t necessarily what we find in the field.

📺 Wollemi Pine -- a living fossil
CMIcreationstation 📤 5 years ago 2013-03-05
When scientists announced the discovery of the Wollemi Pine in Australia, in 1994, it caused a sensation. Some reported that it was like finding a living dinosaur, because the tree was only known from fossils in 'Jurassic' rocks. That would make it extinct for 150 million years, by evolutionary reckoning.

Finds like this are actually quite common. When something that scientists thought became extinct millions of years ago is found alive, it's called a 'living fossil'. But 'living fossils' pose a problem for evolution—since the organism hasn't changed, it brings into question the supposed millions of years age as well as the very idea of evolution.
When a tree was planted in London, recently, Sir David Attenborough said:
'It is romantic, I think, that something has survived 200 million years unchanged'.
Perhaps he considers it romantic, but this observation makes the millions of years of evolution very hard to believe.

📺 Science confirms Earth’s magnetic field flipped rapidly
CMIcreationstation 📤 2 years ago 2015-11-16
Did you know that the earth’s magnetic field has reversed direction—or ‘flipped’—multiple times in the past?
The evidence for these reversals is rock solid, because when molten rock cools, certain mineral grains align with the earth’s magnetic field, thus recording the direction of Earth’s magnetic field at the time, in the solidified rock.
Previously, most geologists thought that a single reversal would take many thousands of years. However, creationist physicist, Dr Russell Humphreys, reasoned they must have happened quickly to fit within the biblical timescale.
So Dr Humphreys made a prediction that quickly-cooling thin lava flows would be found that recorded fast changes in the direction of the magnetic field.
This prediction was later proven correct. Scientists were shocked to find major magnetic field changes had occurred within weeks in a single lava flow. They published this in the regular scientific literature. Thus yet another scientific prediction, based on biblical history, proved to be correct. If you were able to choose the planet you lived on, which one would it be? Well, I would definitely choose earth, because it is so well suited for life. Whether you're considering the Earth's distance from the sun, or its gravity, axial tilt or magnetic field, one conclusion is inescapable. Earth is finely tuned for life.
Many see this as evidence for a designer but others don't. If earth wasn't finely tuned, they say, we wouldn't even exist so it doesn't indicate a designer. But is that a satisfactory answer? Imagined you were dragged before a trained firing squad and they all fired and all missed. If I asked you why you're not dead and you answered, "Well if I did die I wouldn't be here to tell you," you think I'd be satisfied with that explanation?
In the same way, atheists cannot give a satisfactory answer for earth being so finely tuned for life.

No evolution for 3.5 billion years???No evolution for 3.5 billion years???
📺 No evolution for 3.5 billion years???
CMIcreationstation 📤 2 years ago 2015-07-28
Stromatolites are regarded by many as the oldest fossils on earth. They are interpreted as the remains of colonies of blue-green algae, or more accurately, cyanobacteria. The oldest ones are claimed to be 3.5 billion years old. Within this evolutionary perspective, one would expect these colonies to have radically changed, but remarkably, they are essentially the same today. Stromatolites, therefore, are classic examples of living fossils.

Living fossils cause major problems for evolution because they provide stunning examples of how evolution hasn’t occurred.

They also call into question the evolutionary timeframe.

Some people try to downplay the significance of living fossils by arguing that when something is well adapted to its environment it doesn’t need to change. But this would need the environment to be constant for the supposed period of time. This argument cannot apply to stromatolites, because during 3.5 billion years of alleged evolutionary time, many radical environmental changes supposedly occurred, including the arrival of new predators and parasites. Did you know that animals have genetic switches? These are regulatory regions of DNA that control the genes. Scientists have noticed that dramatic things can happen when a genetic switch is mutated. For instance, a mutated genetic switch can dramatically alter the appearance of stickleback fish, or generate a great variety of coat colours in animals.

Veterinary researcher Dr Jean Lightner has suggested that God may have created genetic switches to facilitate variation, the switches having been created with a propensity to mutate without negatively affecting other traits. Modifications to genetic switches are not examples of ‘evolution in action’, even though they often are spoken of in that manner. Indeed, these changes don’t involve new information—new genes—arising, and evolutionists cannot explain the existence of the genetic switches in the first place!

The more we learn about the complexity of genomes, the more they point to a super-intelligent master programmer. To find out more from Creation Ministries International visit our website creation.com

Cows acting like compassesCows acting like compasses
📺 Cows acting like compasses
CMIcreationstation 📤 2 years ago 2015-08-11
What does a cow have in common with a compass needle? The answer is that both of them ‘know’ the orientation of the earth’s magnetic field.
No, this isn’t crackpot science. In 2008, the prestigious journal, the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences USA, published research documenting how cows grazing in a field have a tendency to align themselves with the earth’s magnetic field.
And this phenomenon isn’t just limited to cows; many animals including deer, birds, turtles, bats, and even some bacteria, can sense the earth’s magnetic field for alignment or navigation.
The fact that so many living things have this ability is rather ironic, considering that the famous evolutionist J.B.S Haldane once said that evolution couldn’t produce magnets.
Just as man-made magnetic compasses are the product of forethought and design, so, too, the magnetic sensing in animals points to an intelligent designer. To find out more from Creation Ministries International visit our website creation.com

001 - Natural Selection

Paul Andersen explains how natural selection is a major mechanism in evolution. The video begins with a discussion of Charles Darwin and the details of natural selection. The data of the peppered moth during the industrial revolution is used to show the process of adaptation. Allele frequencies are calculated before and after the selection. The adaptation of cichlids in African lakes is also included.

He describes the three major point mutations; substitutions, deletions and insertions. He also describes several chromosomal mutations.

CMIcreationstation 📤 5 years ago 2012-10-30
The breeding of pedigree dogs is causing them to suffer great pain. According to Steve Jones, Professor of genetics at University College London, some dog breeds are "paying a terrible price in genetic disease".
One award-winning Cavalier King Charles spaniel was even suffering from a condition where its skull was too small for its brain.
Following Darwin, evolutionists often claim that selection—artificial or natural—is a creative force that can change microbes into microbiologists. However, in selecting one animal or plant over another, the genes of the non-selected one are lost. So selection gets rid of genetic information; it does not create it. For evolution to be believable, natural selection would need to create new genes with the specifications for all the features that humans have and microbes don't.
Natural selection happens in today's world, but it is not capable of changing microbes into mankind.

Many of the biggest dinosaurs, such as some of the long-necked sauropods like Brachiosaurus, Titanosaurus, and Apatosaurus, would have eaten colossal amounts of vegetation.
So why do we find such a conspicuous absence of plants in rocks containing dinosaur fossils? Take for example the Morrison Formation in Montana, USA. Even though this Formation has yielded many dinosaur fossils, there is a startling scarcity of vegetation preserved.
This phenomenon of ‘missing vegetation’ doesn’t just apply to dinosaurs. The Coconino Sandstone in the Grand Canyon has many animal track-ways, but it is almost devoid of plants.
These rocks tell us something profound about earth history. They suggest that these deposits are not ecosystems buried over eons of time, otherwise we’d find more evidence of the plants that the animals ate. Instead, the evidence fits nicely with the biblical model of earth history, whereby these animals were transported and buried catastrophically, during Noah’s flood. Crossing-over

The process of crossing-over, which occurs during meiosis, is one the most important genetic events, for it guarantees the individual characteristics of each one of us. When the two homologous chromosomes lie side by side, breaks occur in the chromosomes and corresponding lengths of the chromosome are interchanged. This crossing-over disrupts the original sequence of alleles and interchanges parts of both maternal and paternal chromosomes so that the possible number of gametes with different genetic information that any individual can produce is almost incalculable. This is why a child may inherit his father's nose and his mother's eyes.

CMIcreationstation 📤 5 years ago 2013-03-08
In 1978, a team led by Mary Leakey discovered a series of footprints in Tanzania. These are known as the Laetoli footprints. According to many researchers, these footprints are identical to those made by humans. Paleoanthropologist, Donald Johanson stated, 'Make no mistake about it, they are like modern human footprints'.

Why is it, then, that most scientists reject the idea that humans made these footprints? To understand this odd situation, it's important to realize that evolutionists think that the footprints were made in mud 3.6 million years ago. Therefore, according to such evolutionary ideas, humans weren't around then, so the footprints can't be human! But if a human didn't make the footprints, who or what did? A Scientific American article acknowledges that this is still an 'unsolved mystery' . However, I can't help but feel it's a mystery of their own making, caused by their evolutionary thinking, instead of taking the Bible's history seriously.

ABSTRACT

Presented by Michael Goard, PhD, and Emily Jacobs, PhD.

The majority of the human brain is comprised of a single structure, the neocortex, responsible for a range of cognitive functions, from sensory perception to abstract thought. However, despite this diversity of functions, the neocortex has a simple architecture it is comprised of numerous repeated motifs of a single stereotyped neural circuit. This talk will serve as an introduction to the structure and function of the neocortical circuit, particularly focusing on how it processes sensory input in order to generate cohesive perception of the external world. This will be followed by a description of recent experiments demonstrating how the neocortex can process sensory input in different ways depending on the behavioral state of the animal. Finally, there will be a discussion of how understanding neocortical function will lead to innovations in medicine, computing, and artificial intelligence.

The study of neuroscience is devoted to understanding how the brain functions uniformly across members of a species, but a critical question centers on how cognitive processes differ between members of a species, or in an individual under varying environmental conditions. In short, why do some people excel where others falter? This talk introduces two factors that contribute to individual differences in cognition: genes and hormones. This concept is examined through recent experiments demonstrating that specific cognitive processes vary throughout a womans menstrual cycle: certain women benefit from natural increases in estrogen, while others are impaired. Importantly, the impairing or enhancing effects of estrogen is intimately tied to the individuals background genetic milieu. The relevance of this work to womens health will be discussed. The estrogen-cognition literature (including population health studies on hormone replacement therapy) is famously inconsistent. We can now ask, at the level of the brain, why?

He then completed his graduate work in neuroscience in Dr. Yang Dans laboratory at UC Berkeley, where he investigated the influence of neuromodulation on visual processing. In fall 2010, he will continue his research as a postdoctoral fellow at MIT .

Emily Jacobs received her BA at Smith College in neuroscience in 2004. She recently completed her graduate work in neuroscience in Mark D'Esposito's laboratory at UC Berkeley, where she was examining the influence of estrogen on cortical function and cognition. 📺 Change is not enough -- it is the type of change that matters

Change is not enough -- it is the type of change that matters by CMIcreationstation
